On Saturday, May 12, the winners of the 28th Annual BC Book Prizes were announced. Now the BC Book Prizes - Win the Winners Contest is underway! Visit your local participating bookstore and fill out an entry form for a chance to win a copy of each of this year’s winning books. Five prize packages are available to be won, each of which will include the following winning books:

  • Eating Dirt by Charlotte Gill, winner of the Hubert Evans Non-Fiction Prize
  • The Chuck Davis History of Metropolitan Vancouver by Chuck Davis, winner of the Roderick Haig-Brown Regional Prize and the Bill Duthie Booksellers’ Choice Award
  • Half-Blood Blues by Esi Edugyan, winner of the Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize

Are you a member of the West Coast Book Prize Society? If not, there’s never been a better time to join!

Until the end of the year, every new and renewing member will receive a mystery book (it could be an art book, a cook book, or even a signed first edition!) worth $20 or more in a canvas book bag and be entered to win an exciting grand prize just for joining.

29th Annual Lieutenant Governor’s BC Book Prizes Gala

The winners of all seven prize categories for this year’s BC Book Prizes will be announced at the 29th Annual Lieutenant Governor’s BC Book Prizes Gala on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Government House in Victoria. British Columbia’s Lieutenant Governor, the Honourable Judith Guichon, OBC, will be in attendance. A reception with host bar will precede the Awards Ceremony, which will commence at 6 pm and be followed by a Gala Dinner (wine included).

Join us a few weeks prior to the official awards ceremony for the 10th annual BC Book Prizes Soirée, a free evening event at Joe’s Apartment in Vancouver on Wednesday, April 10, 2013.

The Soirée celebrates all the nominated authors for the 2013 BC Book Prizes as well as the recipient of the 2013 Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Literary Excellence, who will be announced at the Soirée.

Bid on weekend getaways, gift certificates, and many other treats in our fabulous Silent Auction while enjoying complimentary appetizers. (No host bar)

Mix and mingle with the nominees, BC’s vibrant literary community, and support the BC Book Prizes On Tour program. Finalist authors will sign copies of their books at the 32 Books table.
