Book Signing with Beverly Delich & Shelley Fralic

2013 Bill Duthie Booksellers’ Choice Award winner Shelley Fralic will be at Black Bond Books in New Westminster on Saturday, December 7 at 12 noon. She will be joined by co-author Beverly Delich as they celebrate the release of Come Fly with Me: Michael Bublé’s Rise to Stardom, a Memoir (Douglas & McIntyre, $32.95) with a free book signing event. Sandra Djwa Wins Governor General’s Award for Non-Fiction

Sandra Djwa has been named the recipient of the 2013 Governor General’s Literary Award for non-fiction for Journey with No Maps: A Life of P.K. Page, a biography of poet and artist P.K. Page. Djwa was also shortlisted for the 2013 Hubert Evans Non-Fiction Prize earlier this year. For more details and a full list of the award winners, visit the Governor General’s Literary Awards website.

Stephen Collis to Visit Kelowna

Stephen Collis, recipient of the 2011 Dorothy Livesay Poetry Prize for On the Material, will be at the Okanagan Regional Library in Kelowna on Monday, November 18, at 7 pm as part of UBC’s Visiting Author series. Visit the UBC website for more details.

Applications Open for 2014/15 Haig-Brown House Writing Residency

Haig-Brown House in Campbell River is now accepting applications for their 2014/15 Writer in Residence Program. Applicants must have at least one professionally published book of fiction or non-fiction, as well as public speaking and mentoring skills. The application deadline is January 15, 2014. Esi Edugyan Wins Hurston/Wright Legacy Award for Fiction

Esi Edugyan has won the Hurston/Wright Legacy Award for fiction for her novel Half-Blood Blues. The novel was honored last week during a gala celebration at Washington’s Carnegie Library. Edugyan was also the recipient of the 2012 Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize for the same novel. More details can be found here.
