Each year publishers and BC authors may submit books that fit the awards criteria for the BC Book Prizes. There are seven prize categories.

The submission deadline each year is December 1 for books published January 1 to December 31 of that year. To be eligible entry forms and fees ($30 per submission) must be received by or postmarked, December 1. Payment by cheque, money order or cash only.

Three (3) copies of each book must also be provided. Books published prior to November 15 must be received in our office by December 1. No exceptions will be made.

Books published after November 15 up to December 31 will still be eligible and must be provided as soon as possible. The entry forms and fees must still be received by or postmarked, December 1 and the date the books will be provided must be included. Books that are not received by January 10 will be deemed ineligible. No exceptions will be made.

Fill in the entry form online, print out the entry form confirmation, mail in the confirmation with the entry fee of $30 for each submission, and provide three (3) copies of the book. If the same book is entered in multiple categories you will need to select all relevant categories on the entry form, pay $30 and provide three (3) books for each category it is being submitted to.

Finalists are announced in March. There will be five (5) finalists in each category. Winners will be announced at the Lieutenant Governor’s BC Book Prizes Gala in late April.

Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Literary Excellence
Publishers and members of the writing and publishing community are invited to submit nominations for the annual Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Literary Excellence. The deadline for nominations is Friday January 20, 2012. There is no fee to enter.
