Day one of the Southern Leg!
Posted by Jaimie Tait
Today we started on our journey to Kamloops very early in the morning. It was actually snowing in Vancouver this morning when we left but our drive to Kamloops was all sunny skies. We visited two schools and the Kamloops Public Library.
Librarian Nicole Gorman and Ron Smith at Kay Bingham Secondary

Authors Claire Mulligan and Arleen Paré at South Kamloops Secondary

Don Gayton at the Kamloops Public Library

I attended the readings at the Kamloops Library this afternoon. All were great and I particularly enjoyed Arleen Pare’s readings from her book Paper Trail. I am definitely going to read her book as it touched me on many different levels and evoked many memories of my working days. I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed the whole event and wish that more people had the opportunity to experience these snippets. It’s such a great feeling to be in the presence of the “ordinary” authors - local people, just like you and me, actually achieving their dream of being writers. Inspiring. I am glad they are appearing at schools, as it helps to make it real for the kids as well. Many thanks to the organizers of this event.
